Management

Michael Fessler

Founding Partner and Vice President

Michael has an extensive background in science and engineering with a focus on creating healthy manufacturing and work areas. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Long Beach State University. While studying at San Diego State University, he participated in a marine study of sea urchins as a food source with the National Science Foundation that has been added to the collections of the Library of Congress. He worked in his family’s industrial chemical company in sales, engineering and management positions after college, where he developed custom chemical formulations and detoxification procedures. Concern with the environmental impact of toxic materials in the workplace led him to start a contracting business that specialized in detoxifying both commercial and residential properties. His firm also handled remodeling projects for persons with chemical sensitivities. Following a move to the Pacific Northwest, his background has proven invaluable in developing safe manufacturing processes and pure ingredient formulas for Herbalix Restoratives body, hair and skin care products.

Elizabeth Fessler

Founding Partner and President

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Degree followed by an MBA in Materials Management. She worked for over thirty years in the medical and pharmaceutical industry. Her experience includes Purchasing, Planning & Distribution, Inventory Control and Customer Service. She managed small plant purchasing operations and product donations programs, getting critical medical supplies to disaster areas, low income families, special needs clinics, veterinary clinics, free clinics, Native American nations, national immunization drives, and blood banks. Elizabeth also designed training programs for in-house Customer Service personnel and established a product research library for a major pharmaceutical company.

Dr. Steve Haltiwanger

Chief Scientific Advisor

Award-winning psychiatrist, neurologist and Certified Clinical Nutritionist Dr. Steven Haltiwanger is recognized worldwide as an expert on the brain and on many different kinds of electromedicine modalities, including homeopathy and light. For over a decade, Dr. Haltiwanger had a private practice in orthomolecular neurology and psychiatry, environmental medicine, and nutrition. He has also been staff psychiatrist and medical director at many medical centers and universities. A gifted clinician and researcher, an experienced radio and television interviewee, and the author of dozens of articles, Dr. Haltiwanger speaks at conferences about treating aging brains, addictions, pain, memory impairment, neurological disorders, behavioral problems, and hormonal imbalances with electromedicine and nutrition. Currently, as Health and Science Director of Lifewave, Dr. Haltiwanger is responsible for coordinating research studies and writing scientific papers.

Dr. Paula Strait

Medical Director

Dr. Paula Strait, D.O., board certified in family medicine with advanced training and experience in integrative functional medicine, is the medical director for Herbalix Restoratives.

Straight is dedicated to applying the osteopathic understanding of thinking fingers (palpation) to diagnosis and treatment. Based on the principles of the unity of the body (mind-body-spirit) and the body’s self-healing capacity, she understands the significance of aluminum accumulation in the liver and body and how this affects homeostasis.

As a student at the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM), she had the privilege of studying under Irvin Korr, the Princeton trained physiologist who blazed a trail for all body workers and manual therapists with his pioneering research on the trophic function of nerves (Korr, 1967), and the spinal cord as an organizer of disease processes (segmental facilitation). Korr spearheaded efforts to build the first preventive medicine curriculum in North America giving TCOM national recognition as a leader in rural medicine.

Board certified in both family medicine and neuromusculoskeletal medicine, Strait is a recognized leader in medical education. She has lectured on a number of topics such as structure-function adaptations, posture, tensegrity and neurodevelopmental primitive reflexes.

Since 1999, Strait has been one of a few international physicians employing the unique integrative approach of visceral manipulation. She credits her training by world-renowned French osteopath and physiotherapist Jean-Pierre Barral with allowing her to appreciate tissue texture changes in the liver. Barral was named by Time magazine as one of the top healing innovators to watch in the new millennium.[/showhide]

Audiences in 4 continents have enjoyed her award winning books, audios and lectures on healthy, beauty and longevity.

Dr. Ray is married to Doug Barlow. They live with their two daughters in the Pacific Northwest.[/showhide]

Christopher Exley, PhD

Christopher Exley, PhD is one of the foremost authorities on aluminum and the myriad ways that it impacts life on earth. Currently he is a Reader in Bioinorganic Chemistry, The Birchall Centre, and Lenard-Jones Laboratories at Keele University in Staffordshire, England. More.

Stephan Zeeman, PhD

Special Consultant

Stephan serves as a Full Professor in the Department of Life Sciences at the University of New England, where he has been teaching since 1987. His course studies include: Oceanography, Physical Geology, Ecology and Plants of New England. Prior to his tenured position at the University of New England, he served as Director at the Environmental Education Center in Everglades, Florida. He also conducted Post Doctoral research at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution in Fort Pierce, Florida, with his area of research conducted in phytoplankton physiology and ecology. Professor Zeeman has extensive knowledge of kelp species and other forms of sea vegetation and their healing properties and benefits.

Dr. Gilles Mercier, MD

Special Consultant

Dr. Gilles Mercier graduated from Laval University in Quebec in 1967, obtaining his certification in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He became Chief Resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Lakeshore General Hospital and Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal in 1970. He served on the Board of Directors of the AOGQ (Quebec Association of Obstetricians- Gynaecologists for 5 years, and was nominated to several other notable organizations throughout his career, including the Maternel Mortality Committee. Dr. Mercier has also held numerous nominations within the American College of Obstetricians-Gynecologists, served on the Committee on Continuing Medical Education and also as an Organizing Committee member for the joint conference of Obstetrics-Gynecologists. He currently serves as Chief of Department of Obstetrics-Gynaecology and also as a CSSS Co-Director for the Family-Infancy-Youth Program in Montreal.

Judith Pillsbury

1941-2007, Creator of the Original Herbalix Tincture

Judith was the creator of the original Herbalix tincture and was also a member of the Herbalix Restoratives advisory council. Judith had been involved in the healing arts for over twenty- five years prior to her death. She was trained as a psycho-educational therapist at the Bank Street College of Education in New York and received her Masters degree in education. She then obtained her certification as a massage therapist from the Riverside School of Massage in Riverside, California where she studied anatomy, physiology, and various massage techniques, as well as the use of botanicals and oils. Due to Judith’s skill as a medical intuitive, she garnered the respect of physicians, psychotherapists, psychologists and chiropractors alike.

David Bruce Maline, MD

1935-2002, Founder

Dr. David Maline, MD was a retired neurosurgeon who graduated from Dartmouth College and Boston University Medical School, then continued in private practice in Southern California specializing in spinal and intra cranial surgery until his retirement in 1998. Due to health challenges, he developed an interest in the relationship between healing, the skin and electromagnetic fields of the body. Dr. Maline became interested in learning more about the effects of these fields on healing and well-being. He then formed the company that later came to be known as Herbalix Restorative, LLC.
