Organic Aches and Pains Salve for Sports Injuries

August 12th, 2013

Today there are many forms of sports exercise – from soccer, basketball, baseball or football, or gymnastics, to hiking, jogging, running, surfing, or tennis. Injuries can occur at any time in any of these sports, and when there is an injury, there is also inflammation, which will deplete a body of valuable anti-oxidant reserves and over-tax its own healing system. Most muscle pain is caused by inflammation, a condition that is characterized by stiffness, swelling, muscle soreness or weakness, and non-specific pain

JointPain SmartSalve Organic Aches and Pains Salve for Sports InjuriesHerbalix makes an aches and pains salve called Smart Salve™ that is a topical non-steroidal formula with no harmful preservatives, synthetic ingredients or petroleum’s. If you have ever had excessive inflammatory conditions, especially during the winter months, then you know how your body hurts.

If you have been injured, then you will need to undergo tests to diagnose the specific cause of muscle inflammation because there can be a number of reasons for this condition that should be ruled out if your symptoms are unknown in origin. Chronic muscle inflammation can be due to multiple sclerosis autoimmune disease, or lupus which would be confirmed after blood tests and imaging.

Typically muscle inflammation can be attributed to too much exercise overexertion from recreational sports or too much exercise. If this is the case, applying heat is the right thing to do since it increases blood circulation – so make sure you get a an electric heating pad, then use a good aches and pains salve. Ice is not necessarily the best option.

Inflammation and muscle pain are often dealt with or managed by doctors with non-steroidal pain relievers, which are often called NASAIDS, medications that are available without a prescription. These typically include aspirin, ibuprofen, and prescribed versions that are much stronger like naproxen. And for chronic or severe symptoms treatment with ultrasound, massage therapy, or physical rehabilitation exercises may be helpful.

SmartSalve moisturizing stick has been designed to help with muscle fatigue and soreness. It also has other uses from treating insect bites, to sunburns, and it provides relief gently and effectively without side effects. SmartSalve is:
•Good for sore joints and aching muscles!
•Used before/after sports, workouts or dancing.
•Provides moisturizing to the skin while relieving soreness.
•Includes no heavy camphor fumes.
•May be used to help relieve symptoms of inflammation caused from hemorrhoids and varicose veins.
•Helps with the relief of mosquitos and other insect bites

Other complementary therapies which can ease muscle inflammation include: homeopathic dosages of arnica often bring relief. The topical application of certain essential oils diluted with carrier oil may help as well. These include white birch and wintergreen, both of which possess anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In fact, the latter is used in many over-the-counter ointments formulated specifically for muscle aches. In addition, taking fish oil supplements may help due to the anti-inflammatory action of omega-3 fatty acids.

During recovery it is advisable to stay clear of consuming too many animal products, which contain high levels of pro-inflammatory fats. These fats promote the excessive production of leukotrienes, which causes the immune system to go into overdrive. The end result is more inflammation.

One last note — getting enough sleep can help diminish inflammation or muscle pain, which can be difficult when the pain and swelling, or even muscle spasms interrupt your sleep. It can relieve pain when you take a hot bath, rub aches and pains salve on the sore muscles, and then make sure to get more than eight hours of sleep. Research in this area suggests that there is a connection between the body’s ability to repair itself and rest.

Natural Skin Care Trends for 2013

December 2nd, 2012

One fairly odd skin care trend for 2013 is a “Nightingale Poo” treatment which has beneficial enzymes in the bird’s feces. Lovely! This treatment can be used to exfoliate and help rejuvenate the skin, and is just one of the many new concepts surrounding natural skin care products. However, this is probably one we would not recommend. However, there is huge growth in the natural and organic skin care and cosmetic industry, as evidenced below.

Mintel, a market research firm, did a forecast back in 2010 showing that the skin care future would be bright with sales projected to increase from $4.35 billion in 2009 to $4.97 in 2013 after economic recovery in the United States and globally. The firm also said that the biggest year on year growth would take place in 2013 at 4.9 percent.

The latest trends today in cosmetics and skin care involve new projection motion sensor technologies. For example, in the Asia Pacific where space is limited, marketers are using technology to target the consumer and bring them into the buying experience. First they will track to find out if you are a man or a woman, and you may hear and see water, then when you walk away this water turns into a trickle.

New technology in Brazil projects images of real live people in digital form onto a screen featuring products along the side. If you are a customer, you would simply point at the product you wish to try, then use your finger to pretend to apply lipstick, and it will suddenly appear on your lips in the image on the mirror.

When it comes to natural skin care products, in 2013 the trends will continue for pure organic skin creams, and serums that support skin cell regeneration. Detoxification creams will become more and more popular – even those that help target belly fat for weight loss – such as Belly Stripper. One detoxing product is called the Herbalix Cleansing Detox Deodorant, which cleanses and deodorizes while you sleep, removing any buildup of metals like aluminum caused from antiperspirants. This ultimately supports healthy lymphatic flow, and ultimately reduces underarm odors altogether.

The Benefits of Olive Oil in Skin Care Products

June 30th, 2012

Olive oil has been a Mediterranean cosmetic and culinary staple forever. You might have read about it in history books –the ancient Romans used it in their baths to collect dirt and sweat.

Sadly, today we have embraced health and beauty products made from primarily synthetic ingredients. But, olive oil is prized for its lubricating properties for skin and hair because it is brimming with vitamins A and E.  Plus olive oil contains a triterpene called squalene that is highly valuable, which has antioxidant properties and is believed to inhibit UV damage.

Using olive oil based skin care products also help maintain and restore skin’s elasticity, and when used after a bath or shower, can help the skin to retain hydration by inhibiting water loss.  Herbalix Supreme Solution body moisturizers contains high concentrations of not only olive oil, but also skin nourishing emollients including sweet almond oil, avocado oil and rice bran oil (which also contains squalene).

The Herbalix Supreme Solution Intensive Body Moisturizers are quite potent, water-free moisturizers that are formulated for both men and women.  They are free of petroleum products, propylene glycol, parabens and other synthetic ingredients. Herbalix moisturizers deliver a heavy dose of lubrication to parched skin.  They are available in either fragrance-free versions or suffused with fresh and invigorating essential oils including clary sage essential oil, grapefruit essential oil, blood orange essential oil and cinnamon bark essential oil, among others.

Supreme Solution moisturizers are very intense, unlike most commercial lotions. In order to receive the full benefit, one must massage the lotion deeply and thoroughly to allow the nourishing oils to penetrate fully.  Once fully absorbed, Herbalix Supreme Solution Body Lotion will provide continuous skin softening properties for hours on end.

It’s important for your skin to look as radiant as possible.  Before heading out to the beach or any sun-intensive summer destination, try treating your skin to a natural, soothing and luxurious Supreme Solution Intensive Body Moisturizer.

Joint Pain from Working Out too Much Lately?

October 4th, 2011

If you have been experiencing some sore muscles or joint pain from too much exercise, then you will want to hear this. The body loses bone no matter how old you are, but if you are fifty or above, you are losing hormones too. This is also why most people gain belly fat, as the hormones aren’t as active anymore. Along with this comes joint pain for most people, and it can be caused by many types of conditions or injuries. The good news is that by  starting early, insofar as preventative measures,  you will discover many benefits later.

If you are experiencing joint pain it might be caused by inflammation of the bursae, the fluid-filled sacs that cushion and pad bony prominences. Like knees or elbows. The bursae allow the muscles and tendons to move freely over your bones.  However, the most common cause for pain in your joints are autoimmune diseases — which can include gout, rheumatoid arthritis, bursitis, lupus, and chondromalacia patellae.

Further, infectious diseases can also cause joint pain, from minor to severe, including: a viral syndrome,  Epstein-Barr, hepatitis; influenza;  Lyme disease,  rubella, measles,  chickenpox and mumps.

Relief from joint pain can be attained through various treatments, depending on the cause and ailment.  For example, non-arthritis joint pain is relieved via rest and exercise.  Many people also do stretching exercises and take warm baths, or use massage to find relief.

On the other hand,  let’s say your pain is caused by inflammation. Using an anti-inflammatory medication may help relieve any swelling or pain. But remember to check with your doctor before giving ibuprofen or aspirin to children.

We have all seen the myriad of muscle relaxants, creams and salves on the market.  You can always find natural remedies for joint pain, that do not include the long list of chemicals, and Herbalix Restoratives’ Aches and Pains Smart Salve™ –  a natural moisturizing stick specifically formulated to help with soreness and muscle fatigue.  The good news is that there are are no heavy camphor fumes from this salve. This salve can also be used to help relieve  the symptoms of inflammation from varicose veins and even hemorrhoids,  providing safe relief with no known side effects.

Smart Salve is quite helpful for sore joints and aching muscles. It can be used both before and after sports activities, gym  workouts and even dancing.  Another interesting plus about the salve — it can help with the discomfort of mosquito or other insect bites plus it provides a natural moisturizer to the skin.

Smart Salve includes the Herbalix Organic Preservative, and other key natural ingredients include: soy oil,  avocado oil,  shea butter, beeswax, virgin mango butter, cocoa butter,  jojoba oil, first pressed extra virgin olive oil, sweet almond oil, white camphor, chamomile, lemongrass, and the essential oils of lavender, white birch, rosemary, and eucalyptus.

Remember that if you have joint pain and a fever, these symptoms could be the flu.

Over the Counter Medicines and Insurance Reimbursements

August 19th, 2011

Last week legislation was introduced to restore over-the-counter medicines as qualified reimbursements under health spending accounts as well as  flexible spending accounts without a prescription. A provision in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act enacted in January had created a prescription requirement in order for OTC medicines to qualify for pre-tax reimbursements. -more-

Do You Need Relief for the Aches and Pains of Aging?

June 17th, 2011

The second most common neurological disorder in the United States is back pain, says the National Institutes of Health.  Plus, the numbers of those being diagnosed with Arthritis is growing — 2010 figures reveal that more than 50 million adults in the United States have some form of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, gout, or lupus.  Even more shocking, Osteoarthritis, which strikes in the hips, knees, finger joints and back is a degenerative joint disease affecting  approximately 20 million people in the U.S. That’s a whole lot of pain.

Most of the products – salves, ointments, rubs and pills on the market for pain relief and aches and pains are not organic or natural,  but have lots of chemicals. For instance, the active ingredients might contain Methyl Salicylate, Triethanolamine Salicylate and Menthol.

Recently studies worldwide show a number of more natural remedies for aches and pains — and they are working.  One such product, from Herbalix Restoratives, is  Smart Salve, a topical analgesic that relieves the pain, but avoids typical symptoms associated with a narcotic. The formula is approved as a safe complementary tool for pain management. It is available in three sizes — .47 oz. at $7.95, 2.5 oz. at $11.95 and 4 oz. at $17.95

Do You Have Knee Joint Pain?

June 2nd, 2011

Athlete or not, probably everyone experiences knee pain at some point. There are many oral and topical over-the-counter pain relief remedies available – but many of these products contain petroleum, synthetic ingredients and harmful preservatives. These muscle pain remedies may relieve your aching muscles, but the reality is that they may actually build up in your body and create expensive health issues later on in life.

Non-organic knee pain relief remedies can cause side-effects including dry mouth, nausea, drowsiness, stomach upset or pain, vomiting and much more, and what’s worse, some of these drugs can actually cause addiction or drug dependency.

Pay close attention to the warning labels on any pain relief products, which usually will warn people against operating machinery or driving. With natural pain relief remedies, you don’t have to worry about the side-effects.

Do Your Kids Stink?

May 6th, 2011

Body order doesn’t begin until children are in puberty, so it is not normal for children under this age to have body odor. If they do harbor noticeable body odor, your child may have a medical condition which a health care practitioner can diagnose.

Children’s underarm sweat glands don’t really even develop until they reach puberty, so if your kids stink, it is because they are sweating elsewhere — such as the head, feet or hands.

But if a child has bad body odor, you definitely don’t want to give them a non-organic deodorant as it can be harmful to a child. Why? A deodorant that is non-organic usually contains harmful chemicals that can trigger an allergic reaction on the skin.

Always use a natural deodorant or an aluminum-free deodorant like Herbalix Cleansing Detox Deodorant, applied topically. This will assist in getting rid of your child’s bad body odor.
