Organic Skin Care Product Trends

May 18th, 2011

There has been an increase in the amount of organic skin care products being purchased by consumers as they are realizing that what you put on your skin matters. Natural skin care products are healthier for the skin and safer for the environment.

What’s more, people are also aware of the harmful ingredients in traditional skincare product lines. In fact there was a study performed by Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City and they discovered industrial compounds, and alarming results. This study found 91 pollutants and other chemicals in the blood and urine of participants, many of which were traced back to non-organic beauty products.

Experts also discovered that 60 percent of ingredients within natural skin care products are absorbed through the skin and into a person’s bloodstream.

Worse yet, when these harmful ingredients are used even for a few years, they can lead to a buildup in your organs of unwanted chemicals and sometimes, unexplained illness.

You can protect yourself before this happens. All you have to do is start using organic skin care products. The benefits include the fact that they rejuvenate the skin and also provide essential nutrients, keeps the skin feeling soft and smooth, givesthe appearance of youthful skin, and helps prevent acne. It is safer to use over an extended period of time because it doesn’t contain toxic chemicals.

Organic skin care products are also more affordable. Like many people, you’re probably wondering how in the world organic skin care products can be less expensive than traditional products. With traditional products, a person will more likely use more of a particular product and need to buy it more often.

For example, Geranium Cream Moisturizer for dry-damage skin may cost more than the average cream moisturizers you find at traditional stores for $8.99. That’s because it contains a variety of natural ingredients. It also lasts a lot longer than a jar of non-organic moisturizer. Non-organic skin care products contain a high percentage of water as a base ingredient. So, you’re basically purchasing a highly diluted product. It’s like buying expensive water. A person who uses non-organic cream moisturizers may go through two to three jars before they notice results which are usually only temporary. You’re actually saving more money when you buy organic skin care products because you consume less of the product, the results are visible earlier and they last because your skin is becoming healthier. Another disadvantage of non-organic products is that many use fillers and artificial thickeners to make products appear creamy and smooth. Also, beware of products that claim to be ‘natural’. These cheap imitations usually contain harmful ingredients. Make sure you read the ingredients of skincare products before you buy. Advantages of using organic skin care products are made from skin beneficial ingredients derived from the earth and not from chemicals or man-made ingredients.

Another advantage of using organic products is that they rejuvenate the skin and stimulate cell growth. A non-organic product does the exact opposite. When you incorporate a healthy diet with natural, organic skin care products it will help you live a healthier lifestyle.

Americans’ Eco-Consciousness is Slow

May 13th, 2011

Sadly, a recent *research survey shows that most Americans have been slow to adopt attitudes focusing on being eco-conscious. The good news is that Herbalix uses packaging that is safe, ingredient-protective, and eco-friendly, and our organic skin care formulas contain no synthetic ingredients or harmful preservatives.

The survey, however, indicates that people in our country seem to be taking baby steps when it comes to conserving energy and protecting our environment. What’s worse, it seems the mature part of the population’s behaviors are very slow when it comes to the environment.

For instance, less than one in four respondents said they buy eco-friendly products (green purchases).

Ultimately, one out of four Americans who are 65+ say they don’t care about climate change and do not perceive that it will have any significant effect during their lifetime. Other key findings include:

– 43% said they would only purchase eco-friendly products if they were offered at the same price as their regular brands.

– 38% would choose the more eco-friendly option.

– 39% don’t believe there is proof that climate change is occurring.

– 45% of those in the 55+ age range are skeptical about climate change.

– 79 percent of 18-34-year-olds believe that new technologies and alternative sources of renewable energy are necessary to reduce global warming.

– 93% Americans are willing to take steps to reduce their individual carbon footprint by reusing and recycling products.

About three quarters of the United States thinks they can reverse the greenhouse gas effects.

All in all people know that it is going to take behavioral changes among people everywhere the globe.

However, only 46 percent of individuals who responded to the survey said they were avid recyclers and 24 percent indicated that they only recycle products in their kitchen, echoing the point that cosmetics packaging is still not a priority when it comes to recycling.

Herbalix Restoratives has been doing our part for years when it comes to eco-friendly products. All of the plastic packaging used in our products has been identified and accepted for recycling, plus it is BPA free and leach-free. Last, Herbalix boxes are fully recyclable.

Why You Should Consider an Organic Shampoo?

May 12th, 2011

According to research 60 percent of what you put on your skin seeps into your body too. That is why what you put on your skin matters. In fact, during a recent study scientists discovered that the average human has several industrial chemicals within their body that can’t be broken down or dissolved, ever.

When it comes to harmful hair care ingredients, the dangerous substances within many traditional hair products include one or more of the following list of ingredients: Sodium Lauryl Sulfates, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Mureth Sulfate, Siloxanes and Derivatives of Lauryl Alcohol. and these are just a few examples of chemicals that can be dangerous to your health. sometimes the harm does not occur instantly, but it can after many years of prolonged use.

Many store brand shampoos contain ingredients that can irritate oil glands and dry out the scalp — ultimately causing loss of hair. That’s why natural shampoos like Herbalix makes is so much better for the hair and scalp. It stimulates hair growth naturally. It absorbs into the follicles of your hair providing natural minerals, oils and herbal extracts.

Look for natural shampoo products that are customized for your hair type. Or look for Shampoo For All Hair Types (Balancing) from Herbalix Restoratives is a clean and mild shampoo. A fragrance-free shampoo, Herbalix derives its essence from natural base oils. Natural shampoo is perfect to use especially if you have sensitivities to essential oils.

Do Your Kids Stink?

May 6th, 2011

Body order doesn’t begin until children are in puberty, so it is not normal for children under this age to have body odor. If they do harbor noticeable body odor, your child may have a medical condition which a health care practitioner can diagnose.

Children’s underarm sweat glands don’t really even develop until they reach puberty, so if your kids stink, it is because they are sweating elsewhere — such as the head, feet or hands.

But if a child has bad body odor, you definitely don’t want to give them a non-organic deodorant as it can be harmful to a child. Why? A deodorant that is non-organic usually contains harmful chemicals that can trigger an allergic reaction on the skin.

Always use a natural deodorant or an aluminum-free deodorant like Herbalix Cleansing Detox Deodorant, applied topically. This will assist in getting rid of your child’s bad body odor.
